Featured Ingredient today:

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis)–

Jojoba Oil is a very stable oil with penetrative and protective properties for the skin.  It’s widely use on its own or in blends, all round good for all skin types but particularly for the treatment of dry, mature or cracked  skin. Jojoba is a perennial woody shrub grown in the desert regions of the southern parts of the United States and north Mexico. Native Americans have long used Jojoba Oil to help heal sores and wounds. Today, Jojoba oil is still mostly used for cosmetic purposes and maintening healthy skin.
The chemical composition of jojoba closely resembles that of the skin’s natural sebum, so it is easily absorbed and rarely causes allergic reactions, even with most sensitive skin. Jojoba oil is actually liquid wax esters rather than oil. The body’s natural sebum also contains wax esters, which act as a sort of natural moisturizer and environmental barrier for the skin. However, wax ester production steadily decreases with age, causing the skin to appear dull and emphasizing wrinkles. Reduced ester content in the skin can also lead to the development of conditions such as psoriasis, dandruff, and rosacea.
Jojoba oil may help treat acne, both by reducing sebum production.
Jojoba oil contains many important nutrients, such as vitamin E, B complex, and the minerals .
The Jojoba Oil price has rocketed in the recent years, it’s not that easy to buy it all the time but still it has to be one of my favourite skin beneficial oils.

Uses of Jojoba Oil:
1. Make-up remover – Apply few drops on a cotton wool and rub on the face, dissolves and strips make-up and mascara.
2. Body Lotion – Apply small amount on your body after shower on a damp skin, it will emulsify with the dampness and will sink nicely into the skin, leaving it velvety soft.
3. Face Moisturiser – Apply in the morning or as a base under make-up, it’s believed the Jojoba oil is suitable even for oily skin.
4. Oil treatment for dry and chemically damaged hair, apply warmed Jojoba oil on washed and towel dried hair, wrap with plastic and towel over it for keeping it warm. Keep for 15 min, wash with shampoo and dry as normal.
5. Great oil to use for reducing the static after straightening your hair – Simply rub a drop of oil between your palm and run through the hair.
6. Lip protection from cold and snow – apply few drops on the lips to protect them from showy and cold condition.

Dermafood - Handcrafted with care

DERMAFOOD - Handmade Cosmetics.

We care what you put on your face the same way you care what you eat.
Mostly plant derived, our products recipes use some of the finest products available. We use the long known skin improving qualities of vegetables and fruit like avocado, strawberries, pineapple and watermelon. Only finest plant oils and extracts are used in our Dermafood skin care ranges.
We make sure we buy only from certified suppliers. Some of the ingredients we buy help local communities in some of the poorest countries to sustain reasonable income by selling plants and extracts.
We like simple combinations that could help skin improvement over time, could help slow the ageing process down and could help fighting excessive dryness, high sensitivity or oiliness.
Dermafood  aims to create handmade cosmetic products on a volume scale which gives us the chance to maintain our high standards of manufacturing.
We believe Nature has the answer to any problem. Our modest attempt is to combine some beneficial plant active ingredients and create products which promote healthier, younger and more resilient skin.
Handmade with care and 100% Vegan

Handmade equals  Made with Care.

Essential steps to maintain glowing and fresh looking skin :

1.        At night remove make-up from the face using make-up removal lotion or simply skin toner. Rinse. Use room temperature water, never hot or cold. Tap until almost dry.
2.       Apply night cream or if you don’t use one apply your daily moisturiser cream.
3.       In the morning after shower tap the face until almost dry, apply skin toner to brighten and close pores.
4.       Apply moisturising cream immediately while skin is still moist. Every skin is different, apply such amount that makes your skin feels comfortable – not too dry and not too creamy.
5.       Put on make-up if you use one.
6.       If you don’t use make –up feel free to apply moisturiser once again during the day.
7.       At night repeat again.
8.       If after 30 exfoliate twice a week.
9.       Don’t use night cream wich is too rich and oily, it will aggravate the skin and will cause spots outbreak even in very dry skin due to pore clogging. Instead choose a little bit richer cream or stick to your favourite daily moisturiser.
